National Honor Society

Founded in 1921, the National Honor Society is one of the oldest student recognition organizations in the U.S.

High school students who are 樱桃app色 National Honor Society members maintain a 3.8 GPA or higher and have been chosen by 樱桃app色 faculty members based on their grades and the National Honor Society application requirements. We are currently 41 senior members strong with 35 potential junior candidates to be inducted during the fall.

The four main goals of NHS are:

“To create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students of secondary schools.”

National Honor Society members must complete a minimum of 25 service hours each semester, totaling 50 individual hours for the year. Also, members participate in one 鈥渇ace-to-face鈥 group service project each semester. Fall semester鈥檚 project is yet to be determined. The spring project is always an American Red Cross Blood Drive that takes place in areas that include Northwest, Central, Southwest, and Northeast Ohio. We are excited to work with 樱桃app色鈥檚 Student Council on these projects this school year!

*New: This year NHS members will be offering peer tutoring services! Information and details on times and place will be coming soon!

National Honor Society Recognizes Students for Distinguished Service, Leadership

The National Honor Society is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. Since its inception in 1921, its mission has been to:

  • Create enthusiasm for scholarship
  • Stimulate a desire to render service
  • Promote leadership
  • Develop character in secondary school students

樱桃app色 is proud to be recognized by the National Honor Society (NHS) and National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) for having an outstanding high school and middle school.

樱桃app色 launched a chapter of the NJHS for the middle school in 2008 and currently has 49 members working on service projects and peer tutoring for fellow middle school students in math and reading. The 樱桃app色 NHS chapter began in 2010 and currently has 59 members. High school students who are 樱桃app色 National Honor Society members maintain a 3.8 GPA or higher and have been approved by 樱桃app色 faculty members based on their grades and the National Honor Society application requirements.

The chapters’ combined efforts have resulted in:

  • Peer mentoring programs for middle school and high school students
  • Collections for local food banks and humane societies
  • Ongoing plans for new volunteer opportunities in 2015
